Week Two Has Begun!

Project PaunchyBody is in Full Effect!... This Kinda Sucks Actually

Come witness the abuse as I try to get my fat self back in shape. I am currently entering Day 9 of my project and have been managing well so far. I just posted pictures of what I currently look like in my most recent posting, and its not looking to good at this point. I am confident that I will continue to get into better shape and eventually start looking decent. This should get interesting as the weeks go by, so come check it out!

Project PaunchyBody: Witness the Abuse!

I will admit, I'm digging a little deep here to try to explain any relevance watsoever, but here it goes anyway. This blog periodically talks about MMA fighters. MMA fighters typically train thier faces off resulting in bodies that look like they were carved out of stone. I personally do not even come close to looking like something any sculptor would ever want to portray. This doesn't at all mean that I wouldn't mind having the body of a Chris Irvin or Thiago Alves. So, in an effort to see if I can't get in shape again I will be beginning Project PaunchyBody tomorrow morning. Check it out!

2009 VS. JON "WAR MACHINE" KOPPENHAVER, A RECAP

Jon Koppenhaver's life has been a long and glorious car wreck ever since we first met him on The Ultimate Fighter, where he was best known for upper-decking a toilet and winning an insane fight against Jared Rollins at the TUF 6 finale. Following his tour of duty on the reality show, Koppenhaver went from quirky and emotional kid to legitimate loose-cannon: He assaulted a man outside of his gym, legally changed his name to War Machine, and was fired from the UFC for an insensitive MySpace blog post published after Evan Tanner's death as well as his refusal to fight Brandon Wolff.

2009 was the year when War Machine went full retard. Shortly after signing on with Bellator, Machine's contract was terminated thanks to a series of online rants suggesting that somebody should maybe assassinate President Obama. Just a few days later, Machine was arrested in Las Vegas for busting heads at a gay nightclub where he was working at the time. The troubled fighter jobbed around regional promotions for a while until a bad judges' decision in a "joke fight" inspired him to search for new revenue streams. Next thing you know, War Machine is waxing his ass on YouTube.

It wasn't long before porn became War's top priority. Things move fast in the adult film world, and War quickly had a handful of scenes under his belt. But a month in the biz only made his personal demons angrier. Now on Twitter, Machine had a brand new venue to go into depression spirals and threaten his own death. Late last month, War Machine caught a few more assault charges when he flew into a rage at a porn star's birthday party and punched a half-dozen guests, including his own agent. Not exactly the best way to endear yourself to a new industry. So what's in store for War Machine in 2010? A lengthy prison sentence? Suicide? Both? War might have been great for tabloid-style entertainment value this year, but if he doesn't find some stability in his life, the next story we hear about him might not be so funny.

SCOTT SMITH WITH ANOTHER SPECTACULAR COMEBACK

Scott Smith came through with a much needed 3rd round KO over previous-Strikeforce champion-turned-film-actor Cung Le in their 185 Strikeforce match up on Saturday.

The KO couldn't have come at a better time for Smith, as there's no doubt that he was losing on all scorecards. It could also be said that this KO couldn't have come at a better time for his career with most of Smith's more notable fights being battles that he lost. Some of Smith's more recent defeats have come from the likes of Robbie Lawlar & Nick Diaz. A win like this over such a high-profile fighter as Cung Le will give him the recognition he needs to swim with the sharks in Strikeforce's incredibly stacked 185 pound division.

Is it just me or does this win only further solidify Nick Diaz as the top contender in this division? You've got all these fighters like Lawlar and Shamrock who make fighting in this division look like the hardest thing in the world. Nick Diaz then turns around and makes tying my shoes look hard as he runs right through these same people.
